If your piece contains silver, remember it can tarnish. Tarnishing is a natural process and does not damage silver. It can be easily removed by rubbing the piece gently with a soft polishing cloth. If you wear your sterling regularly, your body oils help reduce tarnishing. Gold-filled beads and findings can slightly dull as well. Put your handcrafted jewelry on after you have applied your make-up or styled your hair to avoid exposure to chemicals, which may cause color change to pearls or certain stones.
You may use a mild soap and water solution on your jewelry and pat dry. Do not use tarnish removing dips or silver cleaner on pearls, semi-precious stones or crystals. Do not wear your piece while bathing, swimming, doing dishes or cleaning with chemicals.
When not wearing, store your jewelry in a cool dry place. Storing directly on cotton can expedite tarnishing. Ziplock bags or pouches help prevent tarnishing or scratching. Also, keeping certain stones from sunlight can extend their lusterous color.
Polishing cloths are available for purchase for sterling silver. Please follow directions as we are not responsible for damage to your piece.
